I am interested in the geography of tourism, with an interest in the interaction between tourism and cities. I have a special interest in the (spatial) development of the sharing economy (Airbnb) in South Africa, the influence of reviews on tourist behaviour and the question how tourism can make cities more sustainable and inclusive. Mapping tourism by means of spatial analysis (GIS), social network analysis and sentiment analysis is my methodological expertise.

I like to share my insights, but I prefer to learn from the insights of others. Tourism has many different aspects and affects places in many different ways and scales. A broad network with complementary disciplines and expertise is needed to be able to research and understand it well.
